About the position of IT Network Solutions Engineer
What to expect of IT Network Solutions Engineer position within Huisman?
Working as an IT Network Solutions Engineer in the global IT team ‘Networking’ at Huisman means that you are responsible for consulting on various network systems. Do you have what it takes to make a difference? Do you have thorough understanding and interest in SD-WAN, VPN, firewalling, and other technologies?
About the IT department:
Our IT department is responsible for all IT matters in our global offices and assures maximum availability and continuous improvement of IT services. We do so by using best-of-breed technology and hiring highly skilled and motivated employees. Our IT department consists of several global teams and contains around 60 people.
The teams are divided into several disciplines:
- Compute, Storage and Backup;
- Cloud and Collaboration Services;
- Networking;
- End User Computing and Support;
- CAD/PLM;
- ERP.
We are looking for an IT Network Solutions Engineer for the Networking team.

What do we expect of you?
We are looking for an IT Network Solutions Engineer who will work on IT projects and assist in the design, development and maintenance of our networking solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, implement and optimise complex network infrastructures by providing strategic guidance and technical expertise;
- Work with stakeholders to understand what they want to achieve and how to translate that into effective network solutions;
- Conduct in-depth network assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations;
- Develop and present comprehensive network architecture designs and implementation plans to stakeholders, taking into account scalability, security, and performance requirements;
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize network devices and technologies, such as SD-WAN, firewalls, switches, VPNs and Wi-Fi;
- Monitor and analyse network performance. Proactively identify and resolve problems to ensure high availability and reliability;
- Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies and assess their applicability for network performance and security improvement;
- Share knowledge and best practice by providing leadership and mentoring to junior team members;
- Deliver integrated solutions by working with cross-functional teams including project managers, system administrators and security analysts.

You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and relevant certifications (e.g. NSE6, CCNP, JNCIP)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position;
- Proven experience in complex, large-scale networks;
- Microsoft certification preferred;
- ITIL Foundation;
- Prince2 or equivalent;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Ability to coach and mentor colleagues.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
- Home - working distance - up to 40 km;
- A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
