Tips & Tricks

When making your application to Huisman you will be required to upload your CV. Here you will find a few tips to help you prepare this document.

Everything starts with your CV. Make sure it looks good and suits the position for which you are applying.

Make sure your CV is up to date; include all your latest achievements:

  • Keep your CV to a maximum of two pages in length.
  • Make sure the experiences and skills you include are relevant to the position for which you are applying.
  • Divide your CV into relevant sections with clear headings: personal details, education details, career details, extra-curricular activities.

Personal details

Include at least your name, address and email address.

Work experience

Fill in here all work experiences you have had, including voluntary/unpaid positions and include the dates you were employed. Use a title likely to get the recruiter’s attention, such as ‘employment history’, ‘work experience’, ‘employment experience’.

Use bullet points to explain your responsibilities and/or achievements at each position covered. Use a maximum of five bullets per experience.

Do not say ‘I was responsible for’, say ‘I did’ – this is more active. Give solid examples. For example, ‘I increased sales by 100%’.

Education details

List your education experiences, beginning with the most recent first. Include the name of the education establishment you attended, the dates you attended and the qualifications you were awarded or are studying for. If you have completed the study, you may wish to include the grade(s) you achieved. Also list any skills you have developed during your study.

“I mentored a graduate student during the development of a rotatable spreader. The student invented a drone spreader and had built one at home including control with the X-box controller. It was super cool to do! Following the placement, the graduate went on to work for Huisman as an IC&T Engineer.”

Motivation letter

The motivation letter is the second part of your application and supports your CV. The letter should reveal your personality, which is not as visible from a CV.

We would also like to read in the letter the reasons for your interest in Huisman and in the position for which you are applying.

Make sure that your letter stands out; it is very likely that there will be other applicants for the position, so you should show why you are the perfect person for the job!

Selection process

Following a positive review of your CV and motivation letter, you will be invited to attend a preliminary interview.

If successful, this will be followed by a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager and relevant department manager. Depending on the role, this stage may also include a competence or technical test.

After the second interview, we will inform you via telephone or email of our final decision.
