The Group Planning & PMO department connects Huisman’s strategic ambitions with daily project and operational execution. We enable the organization to make informed, data-driven decisions by providing transparent insights into project performance, capacity, and progress across our global operations and services.

Our goal is to strengthen decision-making at every level from executive discussions on long-term strategy to operational steering on the project floor. By combining analytical thinking with a deep understanding of how complex engineering projects are delivered, we transform data into a key driver of business performance.

As a Data & Insights Trainee, you will turn data into actionable insights to improve project planning, execution, and delivery. Working across disciplines, you will analyse trends, develop dashboards, KPIs, and data models, and support management in making informed, data-driven decisions.

You will also take ownership of small to medium-sized projects, ensuring alignment with Huisman’s broader goals, while contributing to continuous improvement of processes. Collaboration is key: you’ll engage with stakeholders across the Huisman group to understand their challenges and ensure clear communication.

In short, you will:

• Analyse data and trends to uncover insights that support smarter business decisions.
• Interpret complex issues, identify root causes, and propose practical solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement by suggesting and implementing optimisations.
• Manage small to medium-sized projects from start to finish.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.

This traineeship offers a unique perspective on how data shapes decision-making in a complex, engineer-to-order environment.

You are:

• A curious, analytical, and motivated individual who enjoys working with data and people alike;
• You thrive on solving problems, asking “why,” and making complex information simple and actionable.

You have:

• A (nearly) completed master’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or a related field;
• Strong analytical skills and an interest in business performance;
• Experience (or willingness to learn) Power BI or similar BI tools.
• A proactive, structured, and communicative mindset;
• The ambition to grow in a dynamic, international engineering environment.

• An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands.
• A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
