About the position of International Welding Technologist

What to expect of the International Welding Technologist position within Huisman? 

As an International Welding Technologist (IWT), you are responsible for coordinating all welding-related activities within our production location in Schiedam. You possess extensive knowledge of welding and joining techniques and are involved in the preparation, execution, and quality assurance of welding operations. You act as welding coordinator in accordance with EN ISO 14731 and serve as the point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders regarding welding matters.

What do we expect of you?

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate welding-related aspects during preparation, fabrication, quality control, and welding processes;
  • Develop, review, approve welding procedures (WPS) in accordance with international standards (EN, ISO, ASME); 
  • Contribute to the development of Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) in accordance with international standards (EN, ISO, ASME);
  • Monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations such as EN 1090, NEN-EN-ISO 3834, and EN-ISO 14731;
  • Monitor welder qualifications;
  • Contribute to the quality of welding work and the performance of welders; 
  • Provide technical advice to mitigate welding-related issues and deviations; 
  • Maintain communication with clients and classification societies regarding welding matters;
  • Contribute to the optimization of welding processes and cost control within the production process;
  • Coordinate with colleagues in welding department to carry out tasks in a timely manner.

You will have:

  • Completed education as International Welding Technologist (IWT), recognized by the IIW; 
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role; 
  • Practical knowledge of welding processes such as MIG/MAG, TIG, SMAW, and automated welding;
  • Experience with welding of steel grades ranging from S355, S460, S690 and stainless steel grades 304L, 316L, 1.4462 (Duplex) in a wide range of thicknesses;
  • Familiarity with relevant EN, ISO, AWS standards (EN 15614-1, ISO 3834, AWS D1.1) and Offshore Class rules (DNV-OS-C401, LR Rules for Materials);
  • Good communication skills in both Dutch and English.;
    Experience working in project-based and multidisciplinary teams.

Some practical things we need you to have:

  • An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands; 
  • A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
