As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Huisman, you have the opportunity to create creative, innovative designs for mechanical components, steel structures, and complex installations. You play a crucial role in delivering turn-key projects that are fully designed and built in-house.

Your responsibilities:

• Independently developing and elaborating basic and detailed designs of steel structures, mechanical components, and mechanisms.
• Performing structural calculations and basic FEM analyses to support your designs.
• Taking into account manufacturability, cost, material selection, production processes, and assembly.
• Creating, checking, and revising drawings for both design and production purposes.
• Ensuring your design integrates seamlessly within the overall environment and system design.
• Developing alternative design solutions in case of production or assembly issues.
• Coordinating with procurement, suppliers, and other disciplines regarding component and interface specifications.
• Contributing ideas for the optimisation of existing designs and supporting innovation efforts.
• Delivering your design to the structural engineer, who further optimises it in consultation and collaboration with you.

You have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Dutch and English both written and spoken on a professional level
• 2–5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer within the offshore or maritime sector, or in the heavy steel industry.
• A passion for complex mechanical systems and design.
• The ability to prioritise in a technically challenging environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor is an advantage.

• An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
• A good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
